The latest National Film Awards honoured some of the finest cinematic achievements across Indian cinema, recognising outstanding performances, technical brilliance and compelling storytelling across multiple languages.
One of the biggest winners of the ceremony was Article 370, which was named Best Feature Film (Hindi). The political drama also secured the Best Actress in a Leading Role award for Yami Gautam, whose powerful performance earned widespread acclaim. Adding to its impressive tally, Shashwat Sachdev won the Best Music Direction (Songs) award for the film's impactful soundtrack.
Another major highlight was Randeep Hooda, who received the Best Debut Film of a Director award for Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. Hooda's directorial debut, based on the life of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, was lauded for its ambitious storytelling and historical portrayal.
The prestigious Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment award went to the Telugu sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD. The film was celebrated for pushing the boundaries of Indian cinema with its grand scale, visual spectacle and engaging narrative.
In the acting categories, the Best Actor in a Leading Role honour was shared by two exceptional performers. Veteran actor Mammootty won for his haunting performance in the Malayalam film Bramayugam, while Kartik Aaryan was recognised for his inspiring portrayal in the Hindi sports drama Chandu Champion. Both actors received the coveted Rajat Kamal and shared the prize money.
The Best Actor in a Supporting Role award was presented to Sanjay Mishra for his nuanced performance in Bhakshak, further cementing his reputation as one of the industry's most accomplished character actors.
Music also found its moment in the spotlight. Abhay Jodhpurkar won the Best Male Playback Singer award for the Marathi film Gharat Ganpati, earning recognition for his soulful rendition of the song Navasachi Gauri Mazi.
Among the technical honours, Manas Choudhury received the Best Sound Design award for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, applauded for creating an immersive sonic experience that enhanced the film's suspense and entertainment value.
Celebrated lyricist Manoj Muntashir won the Best Lyrics award for the song Jaane Do from Maidaan, while choreographer Vijay Ganguly was honoured with the Best Choreography award for the energetic chartbuster Aaj Ki Raat from Stree 2.
