In an insightful conversation with Ashish Tiwari from Dainik Bhaskar, Ram Charan spoke at length about his upcoming film Peddi, calling it one of the most sincere and emotionally rooted stories of his career.
Describing Peddi as a film that represents “1.8 billion Indians,” the actor said the story deeply resonated with him because of its connection to rural India and forgotten communities. According to him, the film follows the journey of a young man trying to find his own identity while also fighting for recognition for his people.
“Many people still live in villages that are not even on the map of India,” Ram said, adding that Peddi is ultimately about a boy who rises from his village and gives his entire community an identity.
During the interaction, Ashish Tiwari pointed out the intense physical dedication visible in Ram Charan’s performance, especially despite the actor dealing with an arm injury. Responding to this, Ram admitted that the role came with enormous responsibility, especially after receiving praise from his father, megastar Chiranjeevi.
“These kinds of roles come once in a lifetime,” he said, adding that the appreciation from his father means even more because Chiranjeevi is “very honest” with feedback and constantly emphasizes discipline and hard work.
The actor also credited Aamir Khan and Salman Khan for paving the way for stories rooted in Indian soil and culture. Speaking about the film’s wrestling backdrop, Ram Charan called kushti an emotionally charged sport worshipped across the heartland of India.
“Kushti is extremely tiring,” he admitted, while praising both the Khans for their commitment to physically demanding cinema.
Known for performing his own action sequences, Ram said he continues doing stunts because his fans enjoy watching him that way — something he also inherited from Chiranjeevi.
Interestingly, the actor revealed that despite the physically exhausting nature of the film, he “never felt tired even once” because the story itself kept inspiring him throughout the shoot.
Speaking about co-star Janhvi Kapoor, Ram Charan called her “one of the most sincere and hardworking people” he has worked with and praised the values she has been raised with.
The conversation also touched upon Ram Charan’s deeply spiritual side. The actor said he respects every religion and believes faith brings discipline and balance to life. Referring to his own name, he shared that “Ram Charan” itself gives him a special emotional connection with Hanuman.
Talking about his personal life, Ram revealed that his wife Upasana Kamineni Konidela often calls him a disciplinarian because of how strictly he follows his routine and diet. Even when he feels like cheating on his diet, he avoids doing so — something he credits to the values instilled in him by Chiranjeevi.
Despite being one of India’s biggest stars today, Ram Charan insisted that superstardom does not excite him as much as the process of working every single day. According to him, maintaining balance, spending time with family and going to sleep peacefully matter more than box office numbers or results.
Reflecting on his career, the actor called Magadheera and Rangasthalam the biggest turning points of his journey.
However, one statement that stood out the most during the interview was his firm stance on politics.
“I will never join politics,” Ram Charan stated clearly, adding that he wants to become “No.1 in the entertainment industry” and does not believe it is possible to balance “two boats at the same time.”
