1. How has the year been so far for radio in India in terms of its top-line, effective rate and volume growth, and profits?

While the revenues of most players in the metros were in the negative, My FM, on account of its strong retail focus and retail advertising market share, grew at the healthy rate of 13% in 1Q.Radio as a medium is more accessible to tier 2 and tier 3 markets, where it may be the only medium of communication in some cases. Moreover, while the global slowdown may have affected the revenues of players in the metros, retail advertising has been unaffected, since consumers in these cities are not exposed to daily stock market fluctuations. My FM creates radio history through 'borderless radio' for Independence Day celebrations

MUMBAI: India’s leading local FM network, 94.3 MY FM had a special celebration for this Independence Day called ‘Aazadi Sarhado Se’, a first-of-its-kind initiative by an Indian radio brand creating a ‘borderless radio’ experience. The show, a joint effort by 94.3 MY FM in India and Radio 1 FM 91 in Pakistan, brought together artists from both countries celebrating their independence. MY FM posts Q4 net profit of Rs 25.5 million

My FM, the radio business housed under DB Corp, has posted a net profit of Rs 25.5 million for the last quarter of the fiscal ended 31 March 2012. The FM segment's Ebitda (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) stood at Rs 52.4 million, as it witnessed a 10 per cent increase in its advertising revenue to Rs 146.4 million, compared to Rs 133.74 million in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Meanwhile, for the full fiscal ended 31 March 2012, the radio business posted a net profit of Rs 33 million with a margin of 6 per cent. My FM has come up with a new mobile app, My Mobile, for android users. The app was made available from April 7. My Mobile app has integrated features designed keeping the brand engagement in mind. With the feature My Alarm, users will be able to set an alarm or a show reminder along with My FM tones instead of default handset tones. My Connect will allow users to go to social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube or My FM website instantly to view, comment or participate in any discussions or contests.Read More
